Week 3: A day at the park

The Splash Park was a BLAST!!! We will definitely have to do that again! We should try maybe going down to the Gateway Fountains, or try the new HUGE Splash Park that just opened in Highland/Alpine area, or come to this one again, because the kids had so much fun!

Wednesday June 29th
@ Smith Fields Park (the park just north of the school) at 11 am

Bring sunscreen, scooters, skateboards, bikes, and a lunch for the kids! The skatepark is right next to the park, but there is also a lot of sidewalk if kids wanted to ride up and down, there are also wide open fields, if you wanted to bring a soccer ball, football, kickball etc.

So sad that I won't be at this playdate, BUT very happy that I will be in sunny St. George! Austin and Abby have loved getting together and seeing and playing with school friends outside of school!

Week 2 : Splash Pad

What is a "Splash Pad"? A splash pad is a great place to cool off in the summer. Instead of a pool, it's more like running through the sprinklers. No need for floateees or lifejackets!

The weather looks like it is going to cooperate, so we are going to have fun in the sun!!!

The Splash Park is in the Umbria Estates neighborhood
the address is approximately 12650 S. Brundisi Way (5220 West), Herriman, UT
Bring a sack lunch, and swimsuits and sunscreen for the kids.
Meet there at 11:00am
Cost: Free

There is also a regular park right next to the splash pad,
so those that don't want to get wet, can play too.
Hope to see you all there!!!

Weekly Play dates???

My name is Kristen Spencer and my son, Austin Spencer, was in Miss Bradshaw's first grade class, and my niece, Abby Guerricabeitia was in Mrs. H's class. My daughter, Alyssa, will be starting kindergarten in Mr. Matt's class in the fall.

I wish I would have done this last year, so I promised myself I would, for sure, do it this year! I love that we are all a part of Channing Hall, what I don't like is that we don't really have any other students that live with in walking to someone's door, and asking "can you play" distance. And I really want my kids to be able to play with school friends, even in the summer. Then I thought there are probably other moms that feel the same way. So why not do a weekly play date. Same day of the week around the same time, and who ever can make it, comes, and who ever can't, can try to make it the next week. I want to open the play group to ALL of Channing Hall's first grade students, and of course their siblings, so feel free to share this with any families, that you think would be interested! Hopefully this will make starting their second grade easier, by keeping their friendships and bonds, strong, and even make new friends, they didn't get a chance to know well, during school. And then us moms, can chat together, read, relax, or share the experiences with our kids, or at least avoid the "I'm BORED!" whining for at least, one day a week ;)

I was thinking of doing the play group, Wednesday afternoons,
starting June 15th,
@ Smith Fields Park (the park just north of the school) at 11 am

I made a list of things on the right hand column, of things we like to do in the summer, as well as some thing we want to try, some are free, some have and admission fee. Let me know if you have any ideas you want to add to the list. I think this will be a lot of fun! I hope we can make this happen!!!
